1/2 is bigger than 1/18.
The bigger the number the smaller of the Piece.
1/18 is smaller than one-half.

Hi Lily it’s you, from the past.

I am 10 right now and we have just come out of lockdown because of covid -19! 

I liked to spend time with my family but sometimes they drive me crazy.We built a playhouse. I loved it. 

covid -19 is a disease which  started in china in february 2020.it started in wuhan and spread quickly
around the world. covid -19 is spread by droplets in the air and on surfaces.it makes it hard to breath
and many people have died.on the 26th march N.Z went in to level 4 lockdown. That meant schools
closed and only essential services were open .my mum and dads work was closed.we stayed home for

8 weeks! I did lots of cooking,baking,bike riding and panting.all our school work was online. School
work is easier online.i learnt how to ride my bike! I need a bigger one.

Life of Mary

intro-Mary was a young woman who lived in Nazareth. Amon the hills of Galilee she was going to be married to Joseph who was a carpenter. He lived in the same town Israel. At the  age of 14 Mary became the mother of Jesus!


Annunciation- 

A glowing Angel  called Gabriel appeared to Mary and said do not be afraid  and announced ‘you will have a baby. The Angel Gabriel explained to Mary that this was a very special baby that it is the son of God. The  angel told Mary that you will call the baby Jesus and Mary said i am honoured to be God's servant!  

The Visitation- 

Mary went to visit her cousin Elizabeth even though It was a long hard journey she made it. She went to tell Elizabeth and Zechariah her good news, but they already knew that she was having a baby. An angel came to Elizabeth’s husband Zechariah, and told him he was going to have a baby and he had to call him John. Zechariah didn't believe the angel as he thought he was too old to have a baby. As he didn’t believe the angel he was struck dumb by God. He couldn't speak until God’s promise was fulfilled. Then he came home and told his wife Elizabeth everything. As he couldn’t speak he wrote it down on his writing stone.When his son was born people said they should call him Zechariah after his dad. Zechariah said no, and wrote that his son was to be called John. As soon as he did this, he was able to speak again.

The birth of Jesus-Joseph wasn’t sure he should marry Mary as she was having  a baby. That night an angel came to  in a dream, and told him Mary was having the son of God and he should still marry her. Joseph was relieved so he and Mary were married. Then a new law was made by the Roman Emperor Augustus. Everyone had to go back to the town their family was from and register so they could count the number of people in their town. Joseph and Mary began their long Journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem. Mary was riding on a donkey and it was a long long way, over the hills of Galilee to Bethlehem. When they got there they looked for an inn, so they could stay overnight. It was so late and busy

they couldn't find anywhere to sleep.  Then finally one man said he had stable out the back that they could use.That night Jesus was born. Mary wrapped the baby in clean clothes and laid him in a manger, with clean straw. Shepherds came to visit them and said the Angel told them the baby was the son of God sent to save them. Mary had lots to think about.

The presentation of Jesus at the temple -

Mary and Joseph took Jesus as a baby to Jerusalem for the ceremony of the Purification. The law of the Lord said “every firstborn male is to be dedicated to the Lord”. Simeon was in Jerusalem. The holy spirit was with him. He was waiting to meet the Messiah. Simeon took Jesus and his arms And started blessing him  and thanking God. Also an old lady{anna the prophet} came up to Jesus her name was Anna. She  started  blessing Jesus and thanking God for the gift. and ran off and said I met  Jesus the son of God and savior of all the world.

Jesus found in the temple-Every year Mary and Joseph and Jesus went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.One year when Jesus was 12 years old after the Passover they left to go home. Mary thought Jesus was walking with the other young boys but he wasn't. So they had to go back to Jerusalem to look for him. Mary and joseph looked for 3 days and 2 nights. They were so worried. At last they found Jesus at the temple. Mary said “why would you do that Jesus?” He said he was talking to his father.

The marriage at cana -

Jesus and his friends were invited to a wedding in cana.his mother Mary was there.before the end of the wedding feast the wine ran out. Mary went to tell Jesus. Jesus said “you must not tell me what to do. My time has not yet come.”{John 2:4}. Mary told the servants “do whatever he tells you.”(John 2:5).Jesus told the servants to fill the washing jars with water. Then take a cup to the man in charge. They did this and when the man in charge drank it was wine. He did not know what Jesus did but thought the bridegroom saved the best wine until last. This was Jesus’ first miracle. His disciples believed in him.  

Mary at the cross -

Mary was standing by Jesus’ cross with John. She was with Mary the wife of clopas and Mary Magdalene. Jesus looked down at them.he told John to take care of Mary as if she was your mum. John took Mary to live in his home.  

The Pentecost story- After Jesus went to Heaven his disciples were all together with Mary to pray. They heard a rushing wind. Flames flickered around their heads but didn’t burn them. They knew this was a sign from God, just as Jesus had promised them. They could now speak all the languages. They went to tell all the people about God and Jesus and all the wonderful things he had done.

I think Mary was a kind loving mother and it would  be hard to watch your son die on the cross. What would you do if you were Mary at this time?

Marvellous Manta rays

Introduction: The manta ray is the biggest ray and is related to the shark there are 2 species the
giant manta and the reef manta. The word  manta is spanish for Blanket or cloak

Appearance and classification:

 The manta has triangle pectoral fins and eyes on the side of the head.it has no bones in its tail, it has
hon shaped fins on both sides of its mouth.manta rays are black or dark in colour  with pale areas on the
shoulders. The manta ray moves through the water with a wing like movement.the average weight is
1600kg   

Habitat: 

They live in tropical water around coral reefs in all major oceans they prefer water temperature over
20’c.manta rays are pelagic Which means they travel in the open ocean currents close to the surface.
They go in shallow water in the day but dive deep at night    

Enemies are: 

Overfishing from people,Getting tangled in fishing lines because they can not swim backwards so they
get more tangled up {so sad},Great white sharks and Cookie cutter sharks might take a bite out of them.
Micro plastics are a problem because they are filter feeders

Favourite food:

Because they are filter feeders they can only eat small animals like Zooplankton,shrimp and krill

Fascinating facts:

 The largest manta found was 7.6m across.

 its nickname is devil ray.

It has no teeth.

Their babies are called pups.

They have the largest brain compared to their body in all of the sharks, rays and skates 

They can also keep their brain warm while diving 500 metis+

They have a layer of mucus on their skin to protected against infection.they have no spine. 

Conclusion: I thought i know alot about mantis i did not know that They have the largest brain compared

 Or that Their babies were called pups. I had lots of fun learning about manta rays!What interesting

Terrific turkeys

intro:The turkey is a bird related to the chicken. The turkey is an ancestor of the turkey which is farmed for food in America.

Appearance and classification:

Wild turkey feathers are gold and green they are darker than the Domesticated ones. This helps with camouflage. They have a small bit of flesh under their chin called a wattle and a small bit on the top of their beak. Thay live up to 3 to 5 years. The  male Weighs  from 5kg to 11kg.The  female Weighs from 2.5kg to 5.4kg. 

Habitat:

Turkeys are native to North America.they live in the forest woodlands and open grasslands.they like to roam free but they need trees and bushes to hide in from enemies:

They are very good at hiding.enemies The turkey's enemies are Snakes, crows, opossums, racoons, rats, dogs, coyotes, hawks and owls

food:

Turkeys eat:seeds,nuts,grains,wild berries,insects,frogs,lizards and snails they like them.

Fascinating facts

They are not good at flying. They do not see well in the dark . They are very fast at running they can run 30 kilometres an hour. They can run Faster than a Galloping horse. Wild  turkeys are quieter than domestic ones. They have great eye sight.

Conclusion: I would have never thought to do a turkey In the end is quite fascinating and now I know how domesticated and wild turkeys are completely different.
